Meanwhile, Diane’s latest novel takes a backseat when she finds herself writing about her experiences with cancer and discovers that her words have more power than she’d thought. Shelley’s mother makes a rare surprise visit, but her misguided efforts to make up for past failings threaten to shatter Shelley’s family. And Margaret is stunned when Allen is suddenly hospitalized.
